ApplyGuide ApplyGuide Back to App

These Terms govern your use of ApplyGuide, a résumé optimizer and tailor available at applyguide.net and through our Chrome extension. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use ApplyGuide.

1. The service

ApplyGuide helps job seekers improve their résumés:

  • Upload a résumé. We parse it and produce an optimized version.
  • Paste a job description. We score the fit and produce a tailored résumé for that job.
  • Download the tailored PDF, edit it in the in-app editor, or use the Chrome extension to score postings while you browse.

A legacy Gmail job-application tracking feature is also available on an opt-in basis for users who connect a Google account with the gmail.readonly scope. See the privacy policy for details.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use ApplyGuide.
  • You may only create one account per person. Sharing accounts, or running multiple accounts to evade limits, is not allowed.
  • You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method (Google account or the email you use for one-time codes) secure.
  • You must give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it current.
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

3. Subscriptions, pricing, and auto-renewal

ApplyGuide is free to try. You can sign in, upload a résumé, and see a score without paying. Some features require a paid plan:

  • Pro Weekly — $8.99 per week. Recurring; renews automatically every week until you cancel.
  • Pro Unlimited — $19.99 per month (or $8.99 per month if upgraded from inside the dashboard). Recurring; renews automatically every month until you cancel.
  • Three Months — $39.99 one-time. Does not renew. Access expires after three months.

Prices are in US dollars and may exclude applicable taxes. We may change prices for future billing periods; we will give you notice through the app or by email before any price change takes effect on a recurring plan.

Auto-renewal notice (required by California ARL and similar state laws): recurring plans renew automatically at the stated price and cadence until you cancel. You can cancel any time from Settings → Manage Subscription, which opens the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the current billing period.

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you also agree to Stripe's terms. We never see your full card number.

4. Refunds

We do not offer refunds for completed billing periods. You can cancel any time to stop future charges. The Three Months one-time plan is non-refundable once purchased except where required by law.

Where local law gives you a mandatory refund right (for example, EU consumer cooling-off rules for one-time purchases that have not been used), we will honor it. Chargebacks are handled by Stripe under its standard policies.

5. AI-generated content

ApplyGuide uses large language models (currently OpenAI's GPT family, with Anthropic as a secondary provider for some features) to rewrite résumés, score fit, and propose keyword changes.

  • AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or invent facts. Always read your tailored résumé before sending it to an employer.
  • You are responsible for what you submit to a job. If the AI adds a skill or experience you don't actually have, remove it.
  • We do not guarantee interviews, callbacks, offers, or salary outcomes.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use ApplyGuide for any illegal purpose, fraud, harassment, or impersonation.
  • Upload résumés or job descriptions that are not yours to use or that contain another person's data without permission.
  • Scrape, crawl, or reverse-engineer the service or its API beyond what the product itself exposes to you.
  • Use bots, scripts, headless browsers, or other automated tools to abuse the tailor endpoint, the score endpoint, the extension, or rate-limited resources.
  • Resell or repackage the service.
  • Attempt to access other users' data, bypass security controls, or interfere with other users' use of the service.
  • Use the service to generate content that violates third-party rights or applicable law.

We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

7. Ownership and licenses

Your content stays yours. You own the résumé you upload and the tailored output the service generates from it. You may use the tailored résumé for any lawful purpose, including job applications.

To run the service, you give us a limited license to store, process, and display your résumé and job descriptions for the purposes described in the privacy policy. This license ends when you delete your account, subject to retention timelines in the privacy policy.

Our content stays ours. ApplyGuide, the name, the logo, the website, the extension, the prompts, and the underlying software are owned by ApplyGuide and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service. We reserve all other rights.

Feedback. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them without restriction.

8. Privacy

Your use of the service is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The privacy policy lists every subprocessor we use, the retention timelines for each data type, and your rights to access, export, and delete.

9. Service availability

  • We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uptime.
  • We may change, add, or remove features. For paid features, we will give reasonable notice before a material change.
  • Scheduled maintenance, when planned, will be communicated in advance when possible.
  • We rely on third parties (AWS, Stripe, OpenAI, Google). Outages or changes at those providers may affect ApplyGuide.

10. Termination

  • You can terminate at any time by deleting your account in Settings → Manage Account → Delete Account.
  • We can terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, if your payment fails, or if continuing to provide the service to you exposes us or other users to legal risk.
  • On termination, the licenses you grant us end (subject to retention as described in the privacy policy) and your access stops. Sections that by their nature should survive (Ownership, Disclaimers, Liability, Governing Law, Disputes) survive termination.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ApplyGuide is not liable for:

  • Lost job opportunities, missed deadlines, or rejected applications.
  • Inaccurate or invented content produced by the AI features.
  • Loss of data resulting from service interruptions, third-party outages, or causes outside our reasonable control.
  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.

Cap on damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) one hundred US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. To the extent the law of your jurisdiction applies, the limitations above may not apply to you.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of New Jersey, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

Nothing in this section limits either party's right to seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property or confidential information.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where reasonable, notify signed-in users in the app or by email. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
